Brake fluid

Brake fluid is the life blood of any braking system: every time the brake pedal is pushed it is the brake fluid that ultimately sends the signal to the brake mechanisms.

Poor brake fluid will decrease braking performance.

Maintenance:

Most manufacturers recommend your brake fluid be changed every 2 years. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it naturally absorbs atmospheric moisture through the brake system itself. The more moisture the brake fluid absorbs, the less effective it is at doing its job.

At Brian Robson Coach works we test the boiling point of the brake fluid on all visual safety checks carried out on vehicles. This is a more accurate way of finding out exactly how much moisture the brake fluid has actually absorbed as opposed to just assuming it needs replacing after 2 years.
